Question: Our family of four will be in Hanoi next month and would like to make a visit to the Tran Temple in Nam Dinh. Can we make it there and back to Hanoi within a day? (I know it's 90 km from Hanoi but don't know how the road conditions are.) How much would it cost including the driver and fuel? Many thanks.

Answer: Hi David,
It takes about 2 hours to get there from Hanoi, the road is quite good. You can visit and back within a day. The costs for a 7 seat car including driver, fuel and toll fees is about 90usd.

Question: we are going to vietnam in september ... we have friends that live there that we would like to travel with ( natioanals) 1st question ... is there a problem with that ... can they stay at motels with us ... 2nd question ... we would like to hire a car and travel ... my husband will have in ternational drivers licence ... can we do this from say nha trang to hue and back to HCMC

You can travel with any one you like :) as many as possible. They can stay in the same motels with you. if you have International driving license You can drive in Vietnam but It's very difficult to rent a car without driver. Normally tourists can only rent a car with driver.

I am coming to Vietnam in July and was interested in seeing the Central Highlands, probably by motorbike tour. Now that I see what the weather is like there in July I am not so sure. Is it too rainy in the Central Highlands during July to enjoy a motorbike tour?

It rains alot in the Central Highlands in June, July and August, other months are the dry season. So a motor Bike tour is not a good choice at this time. or when arrive in Vietnam you can check the waether on the days you spend for the central highland to find out the best solutions.

In Vietnam the best way is to rent a car with driver. for this route day 1 : HCMC - Phan Thiet, Day 2 : Phan Thiet - Nha Trang, Day 3 Nha Trang - HCMC .
For the 4 seat car with driver It costs about 320usd.

Question: Visiting Vietnam early August,under vietnam law do i require a local licence to ride a motorcycle,also should i decide to purchase a motorcycle is that ok?

If International driving license is ok for driving in Vietnam. You should buy an old Motor Bike (500-100usd) to drive and After the trip you can sell them :)
