Nature's beauty
In one section of the Srepok River, dense forests line both sides with waterfalls called Dray H'ling, Trinh Nu, Dray Sap and Gia Long splashing white foam day and night. The river winds through the Yook Don National Park highly populated with wild elephants and other rare animals and plants of Southeast Asia. In addition, the Ea Kao Forestry Plantation, Chu Giang Sin Mountain Peak, Lak Lake, Truc Lake, Ea Sup Lake and Ea Nhai Lake, are special spots where it is said that King Bao Dai would come for enjoyment and build his palaces.
Cultural experiences
Apart from the beauty of nature, Dak Lak has hundreds of hamlets and villages of local ethnic minority groups who have inhabited the area for thousands of generations now. Their cultural customs are featured in the community and true to their original form, traditions like khan the telling of epics, elephant racing, and can drinking (liquor made chiefly from sweet potato and other additives, contained in a large jar and drunk through long, curved straws as a communal experience).
Many tourists that come to Dak Lak prefer the rugged outdoors: spending a night in a stilt house, hiking in the wilderness, elephant riding, star gazing while hearing birds sing and gibbons howl in the jungle, listening to the wind blow behind an elder village chief's khan reading next to a flickering flame, and being surrounded by cultural dance and song while drinking can with the E De, M'nong, Ba Na and Gia Rai ethnic groups, among others.
