Answer: Hi Kathryn, By this time, the weather in Halong is ok I's about 18- 25 degrees, Sapa is a little bit colder but in the end of Dec and beginning of Jan it's not the coldest season in Sapa, the temprature is from 13- 28 degrees so you dont have to worry about the weather, It's still good for visiting these areas. Have a good time.

Question: Can you please tell me the best way to get from Hoi An to Mui Ne overnight. I have limited time in Vietnam, and want to travel at night to make the most of my days. Is there a train from Da Nang to Phan Thiet? Everything I have seen tells me I have to get off the train at Muong Man, but would prefer to go to Phan Thiet if possible. Thanks! |
Posted: 1/14/2008 3:20:22 PM |
Laurie McFarlane - CA |
Answer: Hi Laurie, It's about 850 kms from Hoi an to Mui Ne, There are 13 trains leave Da nang fo Mui Ne everyday but They only stop in Muong Man Train Station. the 3 suitable trains for you are TN7 : 15h43 - 8h08 D5 : 19h52 - 13h34 TN11 : 18h23 - 11h37 So It takes about 17-18 hours travel by train from Hoi An to Mui Ne if you travel by a private car It takes about 15 hours. If you travel by plane you have to flight to Ho Chi Minh City (1hour10 minutes then take a 4 hour car drive to Mui ne. ) *You can take the flight at 18h10, arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 19h20 then car trip to arrive Mui Ne around 23h30 this could be the best way if you want to save time. Hope this help

Michele - US |
Answer: HI Michele, You can go to Cat Ba Island by local bus from Hanoi it costs 8$/person. There are many cheap hotels and Guesthouses in Cat Ba Island cost from 6-15$/nites. but to discover allHalong bay and spend 4 or 5 nights on the bay you have to travel by a private Junk Cruise. it costs you at least 1600 USD. because there are no cheap Boat cruises in Halong bay for 4-5 nights, or you can join some backpackers tours cost about 70$/3 days and 2 nights on boat. Good luck!

Question: My husband, parents, and 2 daughthers (ages 6 and 8) will be visiting Vietnam next October. We would like to start out in Ho Chi Minh City and see a couple of the major cities going north and then ending up in Guangdong. What would be the most convenient and/or cheapest way to do this route? Would it be cheaper to flight out of Guangdong at that point or to fly back to Ho Chi Minh City and so that we can get a roundtrip ticket departing from the same city where we arrived? |
Posted: 1/10/2008 4:47:50 PM |
Mai Duff |
Answer: Hi Mai Duff, The most convenient way to do this rout is by plane. the road in Vietnam is very crowded so you will be tired if travel by bus especially your parents and children. The cheapest way is by Bus. However you can combine some by Train to see the countrysides of Vietnam because the train is going along the coastlines and rural areas of Vietnam. If I know Which cities you will visit, i can recommend you which route you should go by train. You can fly to Guangdong from Hanoi and HCMC. but when your trip ends in the North of Vietnam, you should fly to Guangdong from Hanoi. to make the decision fly out of Guangdong or fly back to HCMC you should check your 2 return tickets from your country first to know which is cheaper. Good luck!

Question: Will be travelling to Vietnam in June 08 will be arriving at Ho Chi Minh, want to go to Nha Trang and Thap Ba Hot Springs, what is best way of travel from Ho Chi Minh to Nha Trang |
Posted: 1/9/2008 4:09:45 PM |
Karen Hall - AU |
Answer: There are some ways to get to Nha Trang from Ho chi Minh City - By plane : 65 minutes flight and there are 4 flights a day. - 5 star Express train : depart HCMC at 23h00, arrive Nha Trang : 7h10. Comfotable beds and seats. much more expensive than Flight. By car/bus : with the distance of 450kms, travel by bus can take about8- 10hours for Vietnam road. So I think, by plane is the best way to get to Nha Trang.
Good luck!

Question: Hi, my husband and I are planning a trip to Vietnam for about 12 days at the end of Sept / early Oct (NZ school holidays, we are teachers) As our time is short we want to make the most of our trip - see Hanoi and Ho Chi Min city (fly in one out the other), do some cycling or motorbiking and beach type adventuring in between. Can you recommend specific places / activities ? Do we need to book a tour or can we safely make our own way through the country? How much should we pre-plan from NZ and how much should we organise once in Vietnam? Many thanks for your help |
Posted: 1/7/2008 1:19:46 PM |
Susan Hall - NZ |
Answer: Hi Susan, I think Cycling is better than motorbiking. there are many tour to the rural areas around Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh for you to Cycle. It's so peaceful and far from the noise of the cities. in the centre of Vietnam. Hoi an is also a hot place for the foreigners because of the richness of culture and beautiful beach- Cua Dai beach. you can cycle in the Ancient Town or along the beach road or to tradional villages.... It's difficult to compare booking a tour or go by yourselves because they have their own advantages or disadvantages. If you book a tour. you do not have to worry about the availabilities of services, everthing is arranged but time is not flexibility.and you have to decide Which the the best tour operator in Vietnam you trust for your holiday. If you do not book a tour. It's more flexible about your time but flights, hotels and other services could be fully booked because now There are more and more tourists come to Vietnam. In my opinion. booking a tour is better, however you should ask for more suggestion on internet. for 12 day landtour with standard 3 star hotels and resort it cost you around 1000$/person Good luck!
